Evolutionary Biology, Ecology, Biogeography, Entomology, Conservation
Welcome to the home of Farnon Ellwood's research group. We study the evolutionary relationships between tropical arthropods and their ecological interactions, between each other, and with the environment. Much of our experimental work focuses on the inhabitants of bird's nest ferns (the tropical epiphyte, Asplenium nidus). With friends, colleagues, PhD students and a team of international collaborators, we are developing this plant into a general ecosystem model for studying the functional significance of our world’s biodiversity, and its fate under global environmental change. Our work is currently funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Royal Geographical Society (RGS).
